Alkbous Tea
In 1938, Haj Mohammed Hassan Al-Kbous laid the foundation stone for Al-Kbous Group in the Yemeni Capital of Sana’a. With the beginning of the 1940s, Haj Mohammed Hassan Al-Kbous began to expand his business to the city of Aden and while he was there, he was introduced to Ceylon and Kenyan tea. Al-Kbous was astonished by the sensational taste and therefore decided to introduce tea in his hometown Sana’a.
In 1948, Al-Kbous was the first one to import and sell high quality tea. The tea had a pure golden color with a wonderful taste and aroma that impressed people and captured their sensations to become the most well-known tea in the country and hence the name “Al-Kbous” Tea was widely mentioned in every home.
As Al-Kbous tea trade thrived, the group was striving to improve and keep pace with development and technologies. Therefore, in 1988, Al-Kbous established the first factory in Yemen for packaging tea. The factory was equipped with the latest best technology and state of the art machines.
In 1992, the group began to produce a variety of black and green tea products in different pack sizes to suit different demands. As a result of the increasing demand of its tea, Alkbous Group expanded into Saudi Arabia in 2009 and established its first factory outside of Yemen to support both Gulf and regional markets. Later in 2014, Al-Kbous Group sought a need to establish yet more factories to support its global expansion. This time was in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Since Alkbous Tea enters the Platinum Jubilee and the start of its 70th year, Alkbous Group has completed the establishment of a new Tea packing factory in Egypt to keep up with the growing demand for products in Egypt and the African continent.
